Formerly the Crown Inn, the Snooty Tavern reportedly suffered from poltergeist-like activity during the 1970's. Locals believed it was a former landlord who had died many years before. He was a character, known as 'Old Pork and Lard', and in his 70's married a young girl. She became pregnant, but he died before the baby was born. Unable to see his child was the explanation for the strange occurences. Phenomena included clothes disappearing and re-appearing in different places. The owner of the cottage next door also reported unusual happenings.
